Partial acceptance

A book taking part of the stake offered rather than all of it, which is the usual mechanism for cutting a winning customer down.

Also written: stake factoring, being limited

A customer asks to stake a hundred and the book accepts twenty. Nothing is refused, no account is closed, and no explanation is owed, because almost every set of terms in this market reserves the right to accept a bet in part. It is the quietest of all the levers a bookmaker holds and the one a consistent winner meets first.

The clause itself is ordinary. What separates the entries on this register is who the clause names. Some terms reserve the power over an event, which affects everybody betting that market. Others reserve it over a specific customer, without notice and without reasons, and one goes further and reduces winnings already paid on a heavy day across everybody who won more than a threshold.

This index files the reading of the document and stops there. Whether a book uses the machinery it has drafted is a different question, and answering it would need a complaint file that nobody here holds. A publication that invented one would be manufacturing accusations against named companies.
